My
daughter is holding the very reason I became
interested in Maltese! Hoss came to us in 1999 after my son moved
to Colorado. Jessie and I were looking for something to replace
the emptiness in our heart, Hoss did just that!
After traveling to dog shows for several years,
meeting many Breeders and Handlers, seeing so many different
"type" Maltese, I soon knew what I wanted, and also knew I wanted
to begin showing! I read every book I could, went to conformation
classes with Hoss, went in the ring for others, helped
ring-side, just getting my feet wet!
I never knew how hard it would be to gain the
trust of Show Breeders. True I was but a Novice, but I had
carefully studied the breed, as well as many Breeder's
before I purchased! It almost seemed like a battle that
couldn't be won! My business partner at the time, and I,
purchased what would become our first-two, American
champions! They were brother and sister. Because of my extensive
research in pedigrees, I recognized a line in them, that to me,
was everything I had ever wanted! We bought the puppies when they
were 16 weeks old, they lived with me while growing coat and I
took them both to conformation classes. I began showing them at 6
months and 1 day old, then decided to place them with Professional
Handler's!
With Am. Ch.
Richelieu's Some Like It Hot "Salsa" in their
background, I knew I had some of the best lines ever
produced! One member of the American Maltese Association, told
me, "Salsa was one of the most beautiful, and best moving
Maltese of all time!" !
First out to show was our boy,
Ch. Moonstruck Poco Luna Azul, "Poco."
He went to the AMA National's at 8 months, and won First
Place in Conformation class, Puppy Dogs 6-9,
under Judge Vicki Abbott. Thank you Frankie and Mark for taking
care of our boy! At 10 months old, Poco came home a finished
Champion! His sister, Ch. Moonstruck Una
Noche Caliente "Callie," came home for a Fall Break,
and I entered her in a local show, took her in the ring myself,
and she won her first point...a day I will never
forget! So grateful to Judge Corky Gauger! The Handler's took
Callie back out, and returned her at 11 months old, an American
Champion! Thank you for your friendship and care Frankie and
Mark!
My former partner and I co-owned 4 dogs together
before we decided to go our own way. My husband and I bought
out my partner's half-interest in Poco and
Callie (as they had always lived with us...) and she kept her two
girls!
Am. Ch. Moonstruck Una
Noche' Caliente was bred to
Am. Brazilian, Ch. White Field Here Comes Trouble "Roquinho"
of
www.richelieumaltese.com and produced two, beautiful
babies! At 18 months old, we had our first, home-bred champion,
Am. Ch. Moonstruck Stir N' Up Trouble
"Bugsy." She finished in 7 consecutive shows, undefeated,
under the impeccable care of Pat and Wagner Fernandes! I will
forever be grateful to them, and Judy McQuiston!
